Researching Prototypical Resources Online
For many of us into model railroading we all have selected a favorite road name, or even perhaps a couple for many reasons. Perhaps it was a railroad company that operated or passed thru our hometowns in our youth. Could have been the colors caught our eye. Or maybe we just like something about the railroad itself and the area in which it worked. Their comes a time when many modelers become quite serious about the railroad they have chosen to model and replicate within some constraining circumstances. Referring to ones space in particular always seems to become the modeler’s worst nightmare! Never enough of it to design the railroad of our dream! That’s when a modeler has to take some modeling liberties or exercise in his or her own “Artistic License”. The freedom to make some certain changes due to the space available we have to work within. Although we have to make these adjustments to our modeling world as compared to the actual prototype scale and size. Researching the particular railroad systems or systems before you begin planning can help greatly in your efforts. It can assist you in bring your model railroad to life that much like the prototypical railroad you are planning own building.

We are attempting to bring you some links from Crawford County, Northwestern Pennsylvania that can assist you with planning your own railroad. Geographic, industrial, rail company operations are all good information in planning a great model railroad. Keep in mind that artistic license will play a roll in the final design.
