Attending: Bernie Hanmore, Denny Mead, Ed Cronin, Tom Stewart, Wayne Brown, Jack Sheets, John Snyder, and Bill McComas. Treasurer's Report: Ed Cronin read the treasurer's report, noting the checking balances and expenses. Model Railroad Treasurer's Report: No Report. Committee Reports: Museum: Cambridge Springs Trolley Station has been granted to FCVRRHS per Quit-Claims signed by the three earlier recipients providing the judge reviewing the will approves the transfer to the Heritage Center. Dan Higham has offered to be the Trolley Station Committee Chair. He reports that the building is sound. Estimates of $30,000 for the renovation and annual operating costs of $6K have been offered. It has been suggested a model of the Cambridge Springs railroad and trolley operations could be constructed in HO or N-Scale. This layout might be nested in the ceiling when not in use via a cable hoist system. ALCO 518: Meadville Plate Glass Co. has measured the cab windows and offers laminated glass for $375 or polycarbonate for $325. Members voted to accept the glass version, which we can install ourselves after we finish painting the cab this spring. The glass may be stored in the caboose. Stan, who with Tom, has been restoring the coupler (where's the pin?) and cab body where it extends over the frame. It should be ready for paint soon. Dan suggests we grind off the backs of the rivets in the area to be repaired, make the repair and then use the rivets on the new panels (for cosmetic use only). Miscellaneous: Jack has been offered a wood burning caboose stove for $200. We would hope that the owner would be inclined to donate the stove. (Ed already has a coal burning model in storage). Ed, Bernie and Denny plan to with Silk Trucking Co.to discuss moving the boxcar. We have approval from the City of Meadville to remove a few trees at the Pomona Park display to make it easier to set the boxcar in place. We completed the license application for the Pomona Park display including the annual payment and insurance verification for calendar year 2014 The manager of the Ceramics Store in the Shops @ the Bank suggests we build a brick walkway from the street to the engine/caboose display in Pomona Park. John Snyder says he could get used street bricks from the incinerator. Two headlight frames, approximately 14 inches in diameter for the 518, were on display at the meeting. Calendars for 2015 need donations of pictures from local train history buffs, as we have nearly exhausted the Stuart Ladner collection. The Summit United Methodist Church of Erie, PA has donated 14 long metal tables to the Society, which have been picked up and stored in the Baggage Car under the Smock Bridge. The 2015 ELHS National Convention is scheduled for late Sept. and Meadville will be considered as the site for the event. Denny has been in contact with Mike Connor (ELHS) to this effect. If the event were to be held here in Meadville, suitable attractions might include: 518 visit, excursion run (pending WNYPA approval), Cambridge Springs Trolley Station visit, model railroad layout visits or tickets to the Oil Creek and Titusville train ride. Steve Timko could possibly repeat as key speaker. Our ELHS members include: Al, Denny, and Bernie - who might be asked to arrange berthing at a local motel, such as Day's Inn here in Meadville. Juanita at the Crawford County Convention & Visitors Bureau could provide visitors with local touring brochures. A $50 gift in memory of Pete Gifford's wife Debbie was made to the "Creating Landscapes PreKindergarten Scholarship Fund". Meeting adjourned at 7:45 PM Respectfully submitted, Bill McComas / Secretary pro tem P.S. Hurry back Carl Timko! We greatly miss your contributions and expertise.
